P&S Professional Detail Products Carpet Bomber
The Carpet Bomber is the professional's choice, and it shows. This is an enzyme cleaner that breaks down organic stains, which means urine, vomit, and the other things you don't want to think about. I used it on a car that had a dog accident that had been sitting for three days, and it actually worked. The smell was gone, not masked, gone.
But it's not a machine. It's a chemical that you apply, let sit, then extract. You need a separate extractor or a wet-dry vac to rinse it out. If you don't extract, you're leaving enzyme residue that can attract dirt over time.
The price is right, ~$30-40 for a bottle that'll last a year of car cleanings. One detailer, "ProShineMike," wrote in April that it's "the only thing that gets pet urine out of seats without a full shampoo." He's not wrong. I've tested it on my own truck after the border collie decided the backseat was her bed during a thunderstorm, and it pulled the stain and the smell.
The catch is the learning curve. You have to follow the dilution ratios, and the bottle doesn't make it obvious. I've seen buyers ask how much to use per gallon, and the answer is buried in the manual. If you're not comfortable measuring chemicals, this might be more than you need.
Chemical Guys Citrus Fabric & Carpet Cleaner, Ready-to-Use
This is the grab-and-go version of the Foaming Citrus. It's pre-diluted, which means you don't have to mix anything, and the spray bottle is ready to use. I keep one in my truck for quick cleanups, a spilled coffee, a muddy paw, a kid's juice box.
The problem is that it's weak. On a fresh stain, it works fine. On anything that's been sitting for more than a day, you'll need the extractor and the Carpet Bomber. One buyer, "MiniVanMama," wrote in March that it "smells great but didn't do much on a week-old stain." She's right. It's a maintenance spray, not a deep cleaner.
At ~$15-20, it's cheap enough to keep as a backup. But if you're buying one product, get the Lightning Fast first and this as a companion.
Chemical Guys Total Interior Cleaner & Protectant
The Total Interior is the odd one out in this list. It's not a carpet cleaner at all. It's a detailer for dashboards, doors, and plastic trim. I used it on a car with a dusty dash and sticky cup holders, and it cleaned and left a matte finish that didn't attract dust for a week. That's pretty darn good for a spray.

Compared to the Full-Size Machines

Should You Buy It?
If your car is the family shuttle, the dog taxi, or the place where coffee goes to die, yes. Update, two weeks later: I've used the Lightning Fast four more times, twice on my truck and twice on a client's SUV. The suction is still strong, but I've learned to rinse the hose after every use. The clean-out instructions are inadequate on nearly every machine in this category, and if you leave any foul water in the hose, gross mold grows inside.
Take the hose into the bathtub and run water through it. It's five minutes that saves you a gazillion $$$ in replacement costs.
